Lutheran Leftovers Kid's
Consignment Sale

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I sell? Spring and Summer maternity clothes, kids clothes from Newborn to 14 Junior. Bikes, Games (computer and board), baby/kid bedding, shoes, toys, videos, cribs, books, sports equipment, outdoor toys, strollers, playpens, toy boxes, baby furniture, anything you can think of as long as it relates to babies, kids or having babies!

What can't I sell? Underwear, kid's meal toys, pacifiers, medicinal syringes and bottle nipples. Also, we will not accept any Fall or Winter clothes.

What about Fall/Winter Maternity clothes? No, we will not accept Fall/Winter Maternity clothes.

What about Women's, Men's and Teen clothes? Sorry, but we would need a facility three times as big as we have.

Is there a good pricing guideline? Yes! Typically, items sell for 25% to 35% of the original sales price. Of course, items that are higher quality and name brands sell for more. The better shape it is in, the more money it gets. We are not saying it has to be brand new to sell. Just good condition. Ask yourself, "Would I buy this for $x.xx?"

Can I use regular weight paper for my tags? No, it just doesn't hold up with all the people thumbing through the racks.

Will I get my hangers back? Maybe. We try, but don't hold your breath.

Where can I get hangers? Try calling Walmart or Target. They will often give you quite a few. Call the dry cleaners. Get your family and friends to save them for you.

Why do I have to use LARGE SILVER safety pins? Our "Ticket-taker-offers" unfasten about a bazillion safety pins in one hour. The large silver ones are easy on the fingers, and we go through less band-aids this way.

What if I can't make it to the pick-up time Saturday? Unless you have made prior arrangements with the "powers that be in charge", your clothes will automatically be donated to the Peace Place Battered Women's Shelter, and you will receive a tax receipt reflecting so.

Can I sell shoes? Yes if they are children's shoes, but let's be honest and say that shoes only sell if they are in excellent shape. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself, "Would I buy these?" Also, shoes need to be attached together somehow.

Who can come to the PreSale? Only the vendor. You will receive a ticket stub when you check-in your items. Only one person per ticket stub will be allowed. Sorry, but its just not fair if you bring your neighbor. It only requires 20 items to be a vendor. Surely they can scrounge up 20 things to sell if they want to come to the PreSale. Plus, you get $5.00 if they do sign up!

How do I sell lots of small items? As long as they are NOT Happy Meal toys, you can put small like items in zip-locks bags for one price. Example: Put 3 onsies in a bag, or 5 pair of socks, or 3 bottles. Either tape the tag with a small piece of tape to the top and bottom or put the tag inside the zip-lock baggie.

What if I forget my Self-Addressed-Stamped-Envelope? We will still mail your check to you in 5 to 7 days, but we will charge $1.00 to your account. It's okay, really.

Can I use my "Seller's code" from other sales? Nope, we are a special bunch. You will be assigned a Vendor number. This eliminates the possibity of doubling numbers. Our whole sale is computerized to cut down on human tagging errors and back office mis-crediting errors. We are able to do this by keeping track of the Vendors numbers in our computer and keeping a tight leash on them.

Is there a limit to the number of items I can sell? No. But that doesn't mean you should pack everything. Be selective. Only clothes that are in great shape sell. It's often not worth the time to tag an item if its not good enough to sell.

What if I am missing items at pick-up?OK, here goes the legal mumbo-jumbo: "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST, STOLEN OR UNCLAIMED ITEMS OR FOR TAGGING ERRORS." Since we are not doing an item by item check-in, we can't even be sure that the missing item ever made it to the sale to begin with. And believe it or not, people will steal kids clothes from a church. One factor we can control is tagging errors. Using the internet tagging application eliminates tagging errors. But, if a tag is lost and we can't find it, you may be out of luck.
